How long would you say it will take you to finish your new marker art project of that skull? I was just curious because I know when I make some of my work, using the umm well I call it scribble technique, doing about 5-8 inches could take me as long as and hour to complete and was curious how tedious using markers are? Does it get faster the more you practice?
The skull drawing will be my most time consuming piece yet, because it took many hours, spread over an entire week just to draw the “blueprint” in pencil. Each section of the drawing is layered with ink markers (Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens) on average 3-4 times, depending on how deep and strong I want that color to be. For example, the skull itself has been layered at least 10 times using cream and gray ink colors. And it took about 2-3 hours to complete. This illustration has been on the hold for a few weeks now, as I’m working on a commissioned piece, but I hope to be getting back to it this week. Total amount of time I’ll spend on this piece all together? Tough question… but I’d say at least 100hrs. I wouldn’t call the process a tedious one, but rather labour-intensive. And the results so far have always justified the effort. :)
